Interstitial Cystitis
This is an inflammatory bladder condition where the patient may suffer severe pain near the pelvis. They may have severe urinary frequency and urgency. There is a mental element to this impairment. Frequently people with interstitial cystitis will suffer from depression and anxiety. Other medical problems associated with this impairment include fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and Lupus. One tactic in proving this impairment would be to concentrate on these associated medical problems when trying to obtain medical evidence. Social Security judges are somewhat skeptical when dealing with this impairment simply because it is difficult to measure. Concentrating on the associated medical problems creates certainty in measuring the severity of the combined impairments, including interstitial cystitis.
