Normally, high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can be controlled with medications. It would be a rare case in which the claimant’s uncontrolled blood pressure is the basis for the disability claim. However, there are exceptions to this general rule. Hypertension, if left untreated, is a life threatening condition. The damage done by untreated hypertension can be analyzed by looking at the organ or part of the body that has been damaged, such as the heart, kidneys or liver.
